Island Rescues (islandrescues.com) is a community-driven platform connecting animal rescues in Aruba with adopters, flight volunteers, and foster families worldwide. You can reach us at hello@islandrescues.com.
What information we collect
When you submit an adoption application:
Your name, email address, phone number, and any information you provide in the application form.
When you sign up as a flight volunteer:
Your name, email address, phone number, flight details, and travel preferences.
When you sign up as a foster:
Your name, email address, phone number, location, and home situation details.
When you contact us:
Your name, email address, and message content.
When rescue partners use the platform:
Login credentials and any animal listings or updates made through the dashboard.
Automatically collected:
Basic usage data via cookies (WordPress standard cookies for login sessions). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
How we use your information
- To connect adopters with rescue partners
- To share flight volunteer and foster applicant details with rescue partners so they can coordinate
- To respond to your messages and enquiries
- To manage rescue partner accounts and animal listings
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties outside of the rescue partners listed on this platform.
Who sees your information
Adoption applications are shared with the rescue whose animal you applied for.
Flight volunteer and foster applicant details are visible to rescue partners who have been granted access to those boards on Island Rescues. All rescue partners have agreed to use this information only for animal coordination purposes.
Your microchip search is not stored — we only use the chip number to look up a match and return contact information. No search history is saved.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely on our WordPress platform, hosted by DreamHost in the United States. We take reasonable steps to protect your information but no internet transmission is 100% secure.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are based in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to how we use your data
